The WBJEE 2025 result, already delayed due to the OBC reservation case, has been further withheld after Justice Kausik Chanda orally directed that results should not be declared today during a contempt hearing in the Calcutta High Court.

WBJEE 2025 Result Postponed: The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB) has withheld the WBJEE 2025 result following oral directions from the Calcutta High Court during a contempt hearing on August 7. The WBJEE result 2025 has been postponed till further orders. Earlier, the WBJEE 2025 result date was August 7, and score cards were expected on the WBJEEB official website, wbjeeb.nic.in.

Justice Kausik Chanda of the Calcutta HC initiated the contempt proceeding against the state and others, including WBJEEB, after receiving a complaint from merit listed candidates of Common Entrance Test for Medical and Allied Sciences Postgraduate Courses (JEMAS-PG) 2024 as well as the WBJEE. "This suo motu contempt proceeding has been initiated pursuant to communications received from certain merit-listed candidates in the Common Entrance Test for Medical and Allied Sciences Postgraduate Courses (JEMAS-PG) 2024, as well as from the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board, which were addressed to my personal email," says Justice Chanda's order.
"Mr. [Sirsanya ] Bandopadhyay, learned senior advocate, submits that no further steps shall be undertaken with respect to any admission process conducted by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board in violation of the order dated May 21, 2025, passed by this Court until the stay application is decided by the Division Bench of this Court against the said order," says the Calcutta HC order. Bandopadhyay is representing the state in the case.
The next hearing has been set for what was originally the WBJEE 2025 result day, August 7.
The computer-based entrance test is conducted for admission to engineering, architecture, and pharmacy programmes at West Bengal’s government and private institutions was held in April, 2025. The WBJEE 2025 scorecard typically contain details regarding subject-wise scores, total marks and merit rank but has been delayed for months over the OBC list row in West Bengal. It has delayed BTech admissions across the state, causing immense anxiety among students. Premier engineering colleges fear losing students to private institutions.
According to the marking scheme, candidates in category 1 will be awarded one mark each for correct response, while 1/4 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer. As per category 2 marking scheme, for every correct answer, two marks will be awarded, whereas for each wrong answer, 1/2 marks will be deducted.
