VIT revises VITEEE 2026 exam pattern, introduces negative marking

Download NowIn a major update, the Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) has revised the exam pattern and marking scheme for the VIT Engineering Entrance Examination (VITEEE) 2026. Now, the VITEEE question paper 2026 will be held for a total of 500 marks. The institute has also introduced negative marking.
Till last year, VIT entrance exam was held for 125 marks as each question carried one mark. Now, candidates will be awarded four marks for each correct answer.
Similarly, there will be negative marking of one mark for incorrect responses submitted by the students. No marks were deducted for wrong answers till last year. The type of questions will remain the same – multiple choice questions (MCQs).
VITEEE 2026 registration has commenced on the official website – viteee.vit.ac.in. Aspirants can fill the VITEEE application form 2026 by March 31, 2026. The exam will be held between April 28 and May 3.
VITEEE 2026 scores will be used for admissions to BTech courses offered at four campuses – VIT Vellore , VIT Chennai, VIT Andhra Pradesh, and VIT Bhopal.
VITEEE 2026 exam pattern
The number of questions in VITEEE 2026 will remain the same as previous year – 125. The duration of the exam will be two hours and 30 minutes. Those who choose MPCEA will be eligible for all BTech programmes. BPCEA is for aspirants of bio-stream.
