UPSC Prelims cut-off trends over 5 years; will 2025 surpass the 92.51 record?

Download EBookThe Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is expected to declare the results for the civil services examination preliminary (UPSC CSE 2025) by June 14, as per past trends. Only those candidates who obtain the minimum qualifying marks out of 400 marks will be shortlisted for the UPSC CSE Mains 2025.
The civil services exam comprises two stages — UPSC prelims exam and CSE Mains exam. UPSC CSE prelims exam will consist of two papers of objective-type questions carrying 200 marks each. The first phase is a screening test for shortlisting candidates for the UPSC Mains exam 2025.
The commission conducted the UPSC IAS prelims exam on May 25, and the general studies question paper 1 and 2 was uploaded on the official website, upsc.gov.in, the next day. As per the UPSC Prelims result date trends 2025, the commission is likely to announce the results by June 14. Usually, it declares the results within 10 to 15 days after the completion of the exam.
The general studies paper 2 of the prelims exam is the qualifying paper. Candidates will have to secure a minimum qualifying mark of 33% to be eligible for the second round.
UPSC Prelims cut-off increased last year from 75.41 to 87.98. The UPSC cut-off for prelims was the highest last year compared to the previous years, except for 2022 and 2020. Cut-off marks will be prepared on the basis of UPSC prelims paper 1 only. Paper 2 was of qualifying nature with 33% marks as per Rule-15 of Civil Services Examination, 2020, it said.
