UP Rain: All schools in Barabanki, LakhimpurKheri remain closed today

The UP government has ordered the closure of all schools today amid heavy rainfall alerts by the Indian Meteorological Department.
NEW DELHI: Schools in Barabanki, LakhimpurKheri districts of Uttar Pradesh, remain closed today amid heavy rainfall. The Uttar Pradesh government has ordered the closure of all government, non-government, aided, and private schools from pre-primary to Class 12 in both rural and urban areas given heavy rainfall forecast by the Meteorological Department.
The government has also cautioned the residents to stay indoors due to the risk of severe lightning and heavy rainfall. With heavy rain expected until September 12, the Meteorological Department issued a red alert in Barabanki.

Barabanki district received heavy rainfall due to which roads and localities have been flooded with rainwater as per various media sources.
An official statement from the UP government read, “ All schools from pre-primary to class 12 will remain closed today given the inclement weather conditions and weather warning of IMD in Barabanki and #LakhimpurKheri district.”
The district magistrate of Barabanki, Avinash Kumar issued a closure notice to all the heads of schools along with the director general of school education, Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow; chief development officer, Barabanki; director of education (Hon) UP, joint director of education Ayodhya Board; district science information officer, Barabanki, and the basic education officer, Barabanki.
