Five months after the UP Police Constable exam cancellation, candidates are still awaiting the re-exam date. The recruitment aimed to fill 60,244 constable vacancies.
NEW DELHI: Several aspirants have been demanding the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board (UPPRPB) to announce the UP Police Constable exam date, which was postponed in February due to a paper leak. The recruitment board has recently clarified that the UP Police Constable exam date notification circulating on social media is fake; this is the third time the board is issuing a similar clarification.
The UP Police Constable exam was conducted on February 17 and 18 in two shifts - first shift from 10 am to 12 noon and second shift from 3 pm to 5 pm. Through this recruitment, the board aimed to fill a total of 60,244 male and female police constable vacancies in the Uttar Pradesh police department.
After the UP RO and ARO exam paper leak, the reports on UP Constable paper leak also started flooding social media. The board refuted the claims initially, however, the police department had arrested or detained around 244 people for allegedly planning to adopt unfair means in the exam.
On February 24, the UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath announced the cancellation of UP Police Constable recruitment exam 2024 and said that the re-exam will be held within six months.
Recently, the UP recruitment exam calendar for 2024-25 was issued by the state government. As per which, the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) will hold the review officer/ assistant review officer (UP RO/ARO) re-exam on December 22. The exam was held on February 12 to fill a total of 411 vacancies and was later cancelled due to paper leak allegations.

The fake notice which was widely circulated on social media read: “Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board, Uttar Pradesh Police, as per the release of even number dated 23.12.2023 for direct recruitment to the posts of Civil Police Reserve in Uttar Pradesh Police, written examination will be held in 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh on 10.08.2024 (Saturday) and 11.08.2024. (Sunday) in two shifts each (10:00 am to 12:00 noon and 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm).”
A candidate wrote on X: “5 months have passed since the UP Police recruitment exam was cancelled. While cancelling the exam, CM Yogi Baba had said that the exam will be conducted again within 6 months. No information has been given to the waiting youth till now. Baba's false assurance.”
Listing the number of exam paper leak, another X user wrote: “UPPSC (RO/ARO) Pre - paper leaked, BPSC TRE 3.0 - paper leaked, UP Police Constable - paper leaked, UGC NET - postponed due to paper leak, NEET PG - postponed due to paper leak,. APPSC Group 2 Services Main - postponed, and KPSC KAS - postponed. Papers are getting leaked, Exams are being postponed daily, future of Young India is being reduced to joke - yet Modi congratulates himself in Parliament for fulfilling his commitment of zero-tolerance to corruption. The only REAL zero-tolerance he has - is to questions being asked & democratic accountability for his actions.”
