As per the revised criteria approved by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, SC, ST, and OBC candidates with scores as low as minus 40 marks out of 800 in NEET PG 2025 are eligible for admission. Doctors and social workers have raised concerns over academic standards, merit, and patient safety, while officials stated that the decision was taken to fill around 18,000 vacant MD and MS seats.
A Public Interest Litigation has been filed in the Supreme Court challenging the reduction of the NEET PG 2025 qualifying cut-off to zero and the eligibility of reserved category candidates with negative scores, arguing that the move defeats the purpose of a national-level merit-based exam meant to curb donation-driven admissions.
