Download EBookThe Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UPMSP) has introduced an improvement examination facility for class 12 students for the first time. Nearly 24,79,352 registered intermediate students this year will get an opportunity to enhance their scores in any one of the five subjects, following in-principle approval of the proposal.
The application process for the UPMSP class 12 improvement exam will begin after the declaration of the Intermediate results, which are expected by the end of April.
While boards such as the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) already conduct improvement exams, this marks the first instance of the UP Board extending the facility to its class 12 students.
UP Board: Compartment option, Holi security in place
Since 2020, UPMSP has been conducting compartment examinations for students who fail in a single subject. Eligible candidates can appear in the compartment exam for that particular subject instead of retaking all five papers, as was required earlier.
Meanwhile, the UP Board class 10 and 12 examinations are currently underway. In view of Holi festivities, the board has implemented heightened security measures. District inspectors of schools (DIOS) and centre superintendents have been directed to remain stationed at their headquarters, and strict round-the-clock security arrangements have been put in place for question papers and answer booklets.
The UP Board exams commenced on February 18 and will continue until March 12. Examinations are being conducted in two shifts, from 8:30 am to 11:45 am and from 2 pm to 5:15 pm across 15 working days.
