Ukraine War: All 21 students from Goa have returned, pursuing studies online, says NRI commissioner

Russia Ukraine War: 21 Indian medical students from Ukraine who are residents of Goa have been given the support they required, said the NRI commissioner.
PANAJI: All 21 students from Goa who were stranded in Ukraine amid the war there have returned to the coastal state and are currently pursuing their educational courses online, the state's NRI Commissioner Narendra Sawaikar said on Monday.
They were studying medicine in different colleges there and the Goa NRI Commission is in touch with each of them here, Sawaikar told PTI. These students have been given the support they required, he added.

Recently, K Chandrasekhar Rao , Telangana chief minister requested prime minister Narendra Modi to allow Indian medical students who returned from Ukraine to join medical colleges in India in equivalent semesters by providing an exemption from the existing regulations. The chief minister also put forward the idea of one-time permission to increase the number of medical seats proportionally to accommodate Indian medical students from Ukraine in Indian medical colleges to help them complete their education. The Telangana government had also decided to fund the college fees of 700 students from Telangana who returned from Ukraine due to the war. The chief minister requested Modi to take an early decision on this matter.
