UGC chief M Jagadesh Kumar to discuss operationalisation of ABC at universities on December 29

University Grants Commission chairman will discuss the operationalisation of Academic Bank of Credits at 10 am on December 29.
NEW DELHI : University Grants Commission (UGC) chairman Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar will discuss the operationalisation of Academic Bank of Credits (ABC) at the universities on December 29, 2022 at 10 am.
According to UGC’s latest notification, the National e-Governance Division (NeGD) of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology will share the end-to-end flow of ABC and guide on the subject.
Students, faculty, and other members of the various state, private, and deemed universities will be able to watch the programme live at UGC Twitter , UGC Youtube channel , and UGC Facebook page.

“As you are aware, National Education Policy, 2020 envisions the establishment of the Academic Bank of Credits (ABC), a national-level facility which will be a bank for academic purposes with students as academic account holders. ABC shall provide a variety of services which include credit verification, credit accumulation, credit redemption and authentication of academic awards,” said Rajnish Jain, secretary, UGC in a letter to the vice-chancellors of all universities.
The UGC letter added that it is necessary for all universities with approval from their statutory authorities, amendment of extant ordinances, register with the ABC and monitor the development and operationalisation of the ABC programme at the university level for the effective implementation of the facility.
