Download EBookNEW DELHI: The Telangana government will likely change the name of TS EAMCET as the admission to medical colleges in the state is being conducted through National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET). The government is also conducting the entrance test for pharmacy programmes through the TS EAMCET.
The decision will lead to dropping the ‘medical’ and addition of ‘pharmacy’ in Telangana State Engineering, Agriculture and Medical Common Entrance Test (TS EAMCET). The exam is likely to be called TS Engineering, Agriculture and Pharmacy Common Entrance Test (TS EAPCET) or TS Engineering, Pharmacy and Agriculture Common Entrance Test (TS EPACET), Telangana Today reported.
An official told Telangana Today that Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE) has proposed to change the name. “The proposal to change the TS EAMCET name has been sent to the government and a GO copy is expected shortly,” the official added.
The change will not interfere with the admission process to entrance exams of engineering, agriculture and pharmacy programmes being conducted by the TSCHE. The Telangana Today added that the scores obtained in the “TS EAPCET” or “EPACET” will be used for admissions to BSc Nursing.

The TSCHE will likely conduct the entrance exam to various courses in May. The entrance test for agriculture and pharmacy courses will be held on May 10 and 11 and test for the engineering programme will likely start from May 12. The government is yet to give the final nod to the dates proposed by the TSCHE.
