TISS Tuljapur student passes away; institute calls it an ‘irreparable loss’

In a tragic incident, a fourth-year Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) student at Tata Institute of Social Sciences Tuljapur (TISS Tuljapur) has died. The institute has officially expressed its condolences and described his passing as an ‘irreparable loss”.
The student, Paurush Kumar, was in the seventh semester of his BSW course.
TISS Tuljapur in an official email dated August 30 said: “It is with profound grief that we share the news of the sudden and untimely demise of Mr. Paurush Kumar, a student of BSW 7th Semester, TISS Tuljapur Campus.”
A condolence meeting, which was earlier scheduled for Sunday, has been postponed to Monday. Students and faculty have been asked to gather at G10, Gymkhana Building at 10.30 am to pay respects.

Meanwhile, Sumita Bhadrige, the campus counsellor has reached out to students urging them to take care of their mental health and encouraging them to support each other. “You can reach out to me for in-person individual or smaller group sessions. You can connect with me via Whatsapp text or email,” she said.
She also advised students to process their thoughts and feelings through journaling, painting, walks, and talking to people whom they are comfortable with. The counsellor also encouraged students to maintain a healthy sleep cycle, eating habits, hygiene, and social connection.
