Times World University Rankings 2022: Three Indian universities in top 400

IISc Bangalore, Indian Institute of Technology Ropar and JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research, Mysuru-based private university were the three universities in the top 400.
NEW DELHI: Three Indian universities made it to the top 400 in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2022. This year, however, no university was placed in the top 200 global rankings.
Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore, Indian Institute of Technology Ropar and JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research, Mysuru-based private university were the three universities in the top 400.
This year, a total of 71 universities made it to THE World University Rankings 2022, compared to 63 last year, as per reports. IISc Bangalore maintained its position in 301-350 band for the third consecutive year. IIT Ropar also continues to be in the 351-400 cohort as last year and the JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research made its debut to top 400 this year.
The ranking is based on 13 performance indicators that measure an institution’s performance across four areas: teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook.
The Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2022 include more than 1,600 universities across 99 countries and territories
The University of Oxford topped the ranking for the sixth consecutive year, while China has two institutions in the top 20 for the first time - Peking University and Tsinghua University share 16th place.
The US is the most-represented country overall with 183 institutions, and also the most represented in the top 200 (57), according to the official statement.
