Tamil Nadu SSLC, Plus Two Exams 2026: Over 17 lakh students to appear for Class 10, 12 boards from today
Tamil Nadu Board Exams 2026: Government has appointed around 4,540 chief superintendents and 44,624 invigilators for Class 12 board exams, and about 49,542 invigilators for Class 10.
About 17.61 lakh students will appear for the Tamil Nadu Higher Secondary and SSLC board exams 2026, according to an official data released by the Tamil Nadu government. The Directorate of General Education, Tamil Nadu will conduct the TN Class 10 or SSLC board exams from March 11 to April 6, while Class 12 will be held from March 2 to 26.
According to the official announcement, a total of 8.27 lakh students, including 7.99 lakh regular and 27,783 private students will appear for the TN Class 12 board exams 2026.
Meanwhile, the TN SSLC examinations will see about 9.09 lakh students, including 8.82 lakh regular and 26,196 private candidates. The TN first year or plus board exams 2026 will have 25,051 candidates (19,107 regular and 5,944 private), as per the official data.

TN Class 10, 12 Board Exam 2026: Invigilation, scribes
Overall, a total of 17,61,528 students are registered for the TN board exams for March, April 2026 examination cycle. The TN Class 11 or Higher Secondary First Year (+1) will be held from March 3 to 27, and Class 10 board exams 2026 will take place from March 11 to April 6.
Notably, the government has appointed around 4,540 chief superintendents and 44,624 invigilators for Class 12 board exams 2026. While, 289 officials and 2,668 invigilators for Class 11 and 4,954 officials, along with 49,542 invigilators for Class 10 have been assigned.
The government has also made provision for students with disabilities requiring scribes. A total of 7,465 scribes have been allotted for TN Plus two students, 186 scribes for first year, and 12,292 for SSLC.
There are a total of 281 students in Class 12 and 395 in Class 10 board exams with physical difficulties to write an exam.
