The Tamil Nadu Directorate of Government Examinations (DGE) has begun the TN Class 12 biology board exams today, March 23, 2026. The examination will be held between 10 am and 1:15 pm. Students will be given the first 10 minutes (10:00–10:10 am) to read the question paper, followed by 5 minutes (10:10–10:15 am) to verify their details. The actual writing time began at 10:15 am and continued until 1:15 pm.

Approximately 8,27,475 students are taking the Tamil Nadu Class 12 board exams 2026 this year. Of these, nearly 7,99,692 are regular school candidates, while 27,783 are appearing as private candidates.

To pass the Tamil Nadu Class 12 biology exam 2026, students must score a minimum of 35 marks out of 100 overall (including theory, practical, and internal assessment). Additionally, they need at least 15 marks out of 70 in the theory paper, while appearing for the practical exam is mandatory.

Tamil Nadu 12th Exam 2026: Biology paper analysis

The Tamil Nadu Class 12 Biology exam 2026 is scheduled to be held on March 23. A detailed analysis of the question paper will be shared shortly after the exam concludes.

TN Class 12 Biology Board Exam 2026: Marking scheme and pattern

The TN Class 12 biology exam follows a total of 100 marks, divided into three components. The theory paper carries 70 marks, while practical examinations account for 20 marks and internal assessment contributes 10 marks. Students are required to secure the minimum qualifying marks to pass the subject.

The theory paper is structured to assess both objective and descriptive understanding. It includes multiple-choice questions, short and very short answer questions, as well as long-answer questions.
