Symbiosis Skills and Professional University launches School of Defence to meet industry demands
The defence industry has collaborated with SSPU to develop "industry-aligned curricula and provide skill training to students," the university said.
NEW DELHI: The Symbiosis Skills and Professional University (SSPU) has launched the School of Defence, to "create" skilled manpower in the defence sector. The university will also commence various degree and diploma programmes in engineering, considering the need of the "industry-ready youth for the emerging sector," as per the official statement by the university.
The Government of India has been promoting privatisation of defence manufacturing and technology, and Pune is becoming as its hub, the university said.
Swati Mujumdar, pro-chancellor of SSPU, said that the defence industry has collaborated with the university to develop "industry-aligned curricula and provide skill training to students."

The university also hosted a round table conference with over 25 defence industry experts including Lt General Khandare, principal adviser, ministry of defence, and Bhushan Gokhale, retired air marshal Param Vishisht Seva Medal (PVSM), Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM), Vayu Sena Medal (VSM). The experts shared their views on the comprehensive national security and power.
