NEW DELHI : SASTRA Deemed University has decided to allot 30 percent of its total seats to students from Trichy and Thanjavur for the year 2020-21 in order to accommodate more local students in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic. Earlier, the university used to admit 20 percent seats (10 percent each from Trichy and Thanjavur) but for the 2020-21 year alone, the additional 10 percent seats will be allotted on the basis of merit from applicants who have completed their class 10 and 12th in the Thanjavur & Trichy school districts.
According to S.Vaidhyasubramaniam, Vice-Chancellor of SASTRA, this shall provide more opportunities for the local students to study in SASTRA which is amongst the top 25 universities in India as per NIRF 2020.
