Republic Day 2025: In a first, 3 government school bands to perform in parade
76th Republic Day 2025: The school bands consist of students from underprivileged, and army serving families in Jharkhand, Sikkim, and Karnataka.
NEW DELHI: For the first time, three government school bands from Jharkhand, Sikkim and Karnataka, will perform in the Republic Day 2025 parade tomorrow, January 26, 2025. The school bands, including 16 teams, are also competing in the grand finale of the National School Band Competition 6.0 at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in New Delhi.
PM SHRI Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) Patamda, Jharkhand; Government Senior Secondary School, West Point, Gangtok, Sikkim; and PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya Number 2 Belagavi Cantonment, Karnataka, including other teams will be participating in the 76th Republic Day celebration tomorrow.

76th Republic Day 2025: School teams from Jharkhand, Sikkim and Karnataka
A 25-member Pipe band girls team from the PM Shri KGBV will showcase a journey of determination and achievement at the parade. The team includes girls from underprivileged families and many are dependent on farming, and daily labour. “For most, this is their first train journey to Delhi,” as per the statement. They have received guidance from instructors of the Sikh Regiment and Punjab Regiment located at Ramgarh Army Regimental Centre.
The Brass Band Girls’ Team from Sikkim government school will be competing against seven champion teams. They have showcased unmatched dedication and emerged as eastern region champions.
The pipe band (boys) contingent of Karnataka school, includes students from Indian army families with currently serving parents. The team has been trained by MLIRC (Maratha Light Infantry Regimental Centre Belagavi).
