Ragging incident at private college in Tirupati; ‘inhumane’ behavior by seniors: What we know so far

An incident of ragging at a private college hostel in Puttur, Tirupati district, has come under the government’s radar. Senior students allegedly mistreated a junior student, causing distress.
The incident was highlighted through an official X account of Lokesh Nara, a senior Andhra Pradesh cabinet minister and MLA from Mangalagiri.
The ragging reportedly occurred in the hostel of a private college in Puttar, Tirupati district.
"An incident of ragging that took place in the hostel of a private college in Puttur, Tirupati district, has come to the attention of the government. The inhumane behavior of senior students towards a junior student has caused distress. The college management has already taken action against the involved students. A case has been registered regarding the incident, and an investigation is underway. The government will deal strictly with ragging in colleges. I urge students to abandon ragging and foster a friendly environment," Nara wrote on his official X handle @naralokesh.

Case registered, investigation underway
A junior student was subjected to ‘inhumane’ behavior by senior students, Nara stated. The college management has reportedly taken disciplinary action against the students involved, he added.
Moreover, a case has also been registered regarding the incident, and an investigation is currently underway.
According to the authorities, ragging in colleges will be dealt with strict action. Students have been urged to abandon ragging and adopt a friendly environment.
What we know so far is that the police and college authorities are investigating the incident to decide further action against those involved.
