QS World Rankings 2023: Hyderabad University ranks 5th domestically in sociology, English language, literature

University of Hyderabad ranks in 301-340th place for sociology and English language and literature globally.
NEW DELHI: The University of Hyderabad (UoH) ranks 5th in sociology and English language and literature in India and 301-340th place globally. According to a press statement, the university is among the world's best in 5 subjects.
In academic reputation, Hyderabad university scored the best on the sociology subject with 64.3. The university performed the best in chemistry for citations per paper and QS's measure of research quality with 75.3 score. In regard to H-index, that measures research impact and productivity, UoH scored 58.1 in biological sciences.

"University of Hyderabad is home to 2 out of top 400 subjects, the 17th highest number in India," read a statement. In regards to English language and sociology subjects, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) ranks the highest in India, followed by University of Delhi. Overall, in arts and humanities field, JNU, DU and IIT Bombay rank the highest.
In recent news, University of Chandigarh ranked 1st in hospitality courses in India while IIT Kharagpur secures 1st place in civil engineering, agriculture, forestry. Every year, the QS world ranking by subject evaluates universities based on their academic reputation, research impact, and employer reputation in specific subjects. The rankings are recognised as a benchmark for excellence in education.
