Patna school timings changed for all classes in view of heatwave

Patna district administration ordered the prohibition of academic activities in classes after 12:45 am for all pre-schools and Anganwadi centres.
NEW DELHI: The Patna district administration has prohibited the academic activities in schools after 12:45 am in view of intense heatwave. All classes including pre-schools and Anganwadi centres will function till 12:45 am only. The district magistrate asked all schools to follow the order starting from today, April 19.
“Wherever, it has been made to appear to me that due to prevalent heat wave and prevailing high temperature in the district, health and life of children are at risk. Therefore, I, Dr Chandra Shekhar Singh, district magistrate, Patna under section 144 of Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 do hereby prohibit the academic activities for all the classes (including pre-schools and anganwadi centers) after 10:45 am in all schools of the district,” said the district magistrate in an order from the court of the district magistrate.

“The school authorities are hereby directed to reschedule the timings of academic activities in conformity of the order as mentioned above,” the order added.
The district magistrate further informed that the order will come into force from today, April 19 and was passed on April 18 under his signature.
Till now, states like Jharkhand, Odisha, and West Bengal have ordered changes in school timings or closure of schools in view of the heatwave.
