NEW DELHI: Parul University has joined the list of the nation’s top institutions by being conferred the category 1 university status with grant of graded autonomy by the University Grants Commission (UGC). According to the official press release, Parul University is the youngest state private university to attain the UGC category-1 graded autonomy status.
According to the official press release, Parul University has dedicated itself to offering a comprehensive learning experience through its interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary programmes. As per the university, this focus on holistic education aligns with the national agenda of achieving higher standards of global excellence.
"The UGC vested upon Parul University this autonomy status as a reward for its quality efforts and to engage effectively in its academic practices and methodologies," read the university press release.
UGC Category 1 University: Benefits
The UGC Category 1 universities are classified as high-quality institutions based on their top rankings and NAAC scores, as well as their performance in world rankings. This categorization grants these universities autonomy and key academic benefits, such as the ability to initiate new programmes and offer ODL opportunities. Additionally, they automatically receive 12B status, which allows them to obtain research grants and engage foreign professors without UGC approval, among other advantages.
