School reopening: Odisha schools remained shut from October 9 on the occasion of Durga Puja and Kumar Purnima.
NEW DELHI: The Odisha government has decided to reopen schools for Classes 8 and 11 from October 21 and 25, respectively, as per an Indian Express report.
The School and Mass Education department has issued Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for reopening of schools for conducting physical classes.

The government has already resumed offline classes for 9th and 12th with strict COVID-19 protocols.
Schools had remained closed from October 9 for Durga Puja and Kumar Purnima holidays, the report said.
“A notification will be issued soon,” School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash told the Indian Express. A decision on the reopening of schools for classes 1 to 7 is yet to be finalised, the report further said.
Meanwhile, the Goa government has decided to reopen schools for Classes 9 to 12 from Monday, October 18 in a phased manner, Goa chief minister Pramod Sawant said, as per a Times of India report.
Since schools for Classes till 8 still remain closed, it will be easier to run offline classes for four standards in a phased manner, Sawant said, as per the report. The state government has already allowed higher secondary schools to hold offline exams for Classes 11 and 12.
On the other hand, the Karnataka government has said that a decision on reopening of schools for primary classes will be taken after an expert committee meeting.

Stakeholders are looking forward to reopening of primary schools in Karnataka as physical classes have resumed for senior classes in the state, the report said.
