NMC reminds medical colleges to submit contact details of anti-ragging cell convenor

NMC formed an anti-ragging committee and asked colleges to submit contact details of convenor and college principals, deans, or directors.
NEW DELHI : The National Medical Commission (NMC) has reminded medical colleges to submit contact details of convenor of anti-ragging committee and principal, dean, or directors by December 1, 2022. The commission constituted an anti-ragging cell to examine and resolve complaints of ragging incidents.
“There are some colleges which have not submitted contact details of convenors of anti-ragging committee and principal, dean, or directors of medical colleges or institutes. It is therefore, requested that all those colleges which have not submitted the report yet may submit the same (preferably by mail) by December 1, 2022 failing which NMC may take action as per National Medical Commission (Prevention and Prohibition of Ragging in Medical Colleges and Institutions) Regulation 2021,” read NMC notice. Those colleges who had already submitted their reports are requested to not send them again, it added.

On October 12, the commission had requested medical colleges to submit the details through mail.
Earlier in September, NMC announced that the anti-ragging committee has been formed and its members will meet once every month to take up the ragging complaints and undertake an independent enquiry.
The cell comprises Dr Aruna V Vanikar, President, Undergraduate Medical Education Board (UGMEB) as chairperson and Vijayendra Kumar, Member, UGMEB, Vijay Lakshmi Nag, Member, EMRB (Ethics and Medical Registration Board), Yogender Malik, Member, EMRB, Shambhu Sharan Kumar, Director, UG, Ashok Kumar, deputy secretary, NMC, Chaman Lal Guleria, DS, EMRB as members and Aujender Singh, DS, NMC as member-secretary.
