NMC issues guidelines for PG training programme for broad, super-specialty subjects

NEW DELHI: The National Medical Commission (NMC) has prepared and released guidelines for competency-based postgraduate training programmes for broad and super-specialty programmes. NMC has asked all medical colleges and institutions to follow the guidelines for teaching these subjects. The guidelines are available on the official website of NMC – nmc.org.

NMC’s latest notification reads, “The National Medical Commission, through Subject Expert Groups, has prepared guidelines for competency based postgraduate training programme for various broad and superspecialty subjects. These guidelines have been scrutinized by the reconciliation board cum expert group of NMC and are uploaded on NMC website. These guidelines will be mandatory teaching-learning material for all institutions, colleges under NMC.”

Recently, NMC issued a clarification regarding the eligibility criteria for final year postgraduate (PG) students without completing the ‘Online course in Research Methods’ for appearing in the final examination 2022. Medical students will be allowed to appear in the final exams provided they complete the course in six months, as per the official statement.

The NMC in a latest notification said, “The course is applicable for super speciality courses also.” “Students who have not completed the course may be allowed to appear in the final examination. However, such students have to complete the course within six months for which the Dean will facilitate registration of the course and the result of such students may be declared after completion of the course,” it said.
