The National Medical Commission was constituted to replace the Medical Council of India (MCI) which was scrapped on September 25, 2020.
Following a complaint by doctor and activist Mohamed Khader Meeran, the Central Information Commission (CIC) in March asked the NMC to upload infrastructure and related assessment reports of medical colleges on its official website, nmc.org.in. However, in June, the doctor again wrote a letter to the Prime Minister’s Office and Union health ministry requesting the disclosure of infrastructure assessment reports of all medical colleges.
