NMC extends deadline for PG Broad Specialty exams till January 31

Universities will now have time till January 31, 2025 to complete the academic curriculum and conduct the final examinations for the postgraduate students of the 2021 batch.
NEW DELHI: The Post Graduate Medical Education Board (PGMEB) of the National Medical Commission (NMC) has extended the deadline for the completion of final examinations until January 31, 2025. Universities will now have time till January 31 to complete the academic curriculum and conduct the final examinations for the postgraduate students of the 2021 batch.
Earlier, the board mandated all universities to conclude the academic curriculum, including conducting final examinations, by December 31, 2024, for students admitted in the 2021 academic year.
"Representations, were received from a few Universities to postpone the deadline of 31st December 2024. Accordingly, a meeting was conducted by PGMEB with all the Universities on 31st July 2024 wherein it was decided that final examination may now be completed by 31.01.2025", the official notification read.
Deadline extended by a month
After thorough discussions, the PGMEB acknowledged the concerns and challenges faced by the institutions. Consequently, it was decided to extend the deadline for the completion of final examinations by one month.
Universities now have until January 31, 2025, to complete the academic curriculum and conduct the final examinations for the postgraduate students of the 2021 batch.
This extension aims to provide universities with the necessary flexibility to ensure that the academic rigor and quality of education are maintained, allowing students to be well-prepared for their final evaluations. The decision has been welcomed by educational institutions, which had been grappling with the tight schedule imposed by the original deadline.
