NLU Delhi launches masters, LLM in Intellectual Property Law and Management

The NLU Delhi is offering masters/LLM in Intellectual Property Law and Management under the WIPO India Action Plan 2023.
NEW DELHI: The National Law University (NLU Delhi) has launched the joint masters and LLM in Intellectual Property Law and Management. The programme is being jointly offered by NLU Delhi, World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) of the United Nations, and office of the controller general of patents, designs and trademarks (CGPDTM – Indian IP Office), and commerce and industry ministry.
The first edition of the Joint Masters/LLM, which is being offered under the WIPO India Action Plan 2023, will provide a comprehensive pathway for gaining expertise in intellectual property law and management.
The programme will offer a dual track wherein students from legal background will be enrolled in the LLM in Intellectual Property Law and Management, and candidates from non-legal background will be admitted into Master in Intellectual Property Law and Management. The launch ceremony concluded with a panel discussion on ‘Reimaging IP teaching in India’.

In the inaugural address, NLU Delhi vice-chancellor GS Bajpai said, “The institute, along with the partnering organisations, has made it possible for aspiring students to build a career in IP by way of a specialised Masters/LLM programme. The programme is cutting-edge in its content and path-breaking in its pedagogical approach.”
Delhi high court judge Prathiba M Singh, who was the chief guest of the occasion, said, “This is such a watershed moment in so far as IP education in India is concerned because it has always been such a requirement in the IP ecosystem to have specialised courses. IP education should go forward in the country in a multidisciplinary manner.”
