Inform researchers, faculty members about new G20 talent visa: UGC tells colleges, universities

The home affairs ministry has approved new visa category under student visa for scientists, scholars.
NEW DELHI : Following the introduction of a new student visa category, G20 Talent Visa, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has asked colleges and universities to disseminate the information. The Ministry of Home Affairs has approved the new visa category under the sub-category (S-5) of the student visa, targeting scientists, researchers, faculty members, and scholars from the G20 member countries.
The G20 Talent Visa is designed to facilitate entry into India for individuals engaged in projects, training programs, post-doctoral research, and academic fellowships.
“All Higher Education Institutions (HEls) are requested to take note of this and circulate the information on G20 Talent Visa among stakeholders/ faculty members/ researchers/scholars. This visa will provide a valuable opportunity for individuals to present their research and innovations,” the commission said in an official statement.
G20 summit
During the second session of the G20 summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi suggested establishing a "G20 Talent Visa" as a special category, similar to other countries. “This type of visa could be highly beneficial for our top science and technology talent to explore global opportunities. Their talent and efforts can contribute significantly to our economies,” PM Modi remarked.

The G20 (Group of Twenty) is an international forum consisting of 19 countries and the European Union (EU), representing the world's largest economies. It was established in 1999 in response to the financial crises of the late 1990s, with the goal of promoting international economic cooperation and addressing issues affecting the global economy.
