NEW DELHI: The Karnataka education department said that the NEP implementation will start the first five years of schooling from lower classes. The department is contemplating a phased implementation of National Education Policy 2020 (NEP 2020) in schools from the academic year 2022-23, according to The Indian Express report. The department has formed a cell that coordinates with the Union ministry of education for the introduction of NEP 2020.
“The first five years of schooling come under the Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) under the NEP-2020. The thrust areas will be ECCE, Foundational Literacy and Numeracy, vocational education and school complexes,” the report said.
