The MCC conducts medical counselling based on NEET UG ranks for 15% All India Quota (AIQ) seats in government medical colleges, along with 100% seats in deemed universities and central universities.
This year, the NEET UG counselling 2025 for admission to MBBS and BDS courses, has seen repeated extension and revision of counselling schedule, like previous years. Although the extension gives candidates an opportunity to exercise various facilities, many fear a delay in admission.
The NEET UG round 1 seat allotment , originally scheduled for August 3, was rescheduled several times and eventually declared on August 12. Not only the allotment date, but also processes such as registration, choice filling, choice locking, and now the resignation window have been extended multiple times, causing uncertainty for candidates awaiting the next phase of admissions.
When will NEET UG round 2 be conducted?
The MCC will conduct four rounds of NEET UG counselling – round 1, round 2, round 3, and stray vacancy – all following the same process of registration, choice filling, seat allotment, reporting, registration or withdrawal from allotted seat.
It also gives candidates allotted seats in round 1 the option for upgradation in the subsequent rounds. The next round of counselling is conducted only after all these processes are completed. This is crucial as a candidate's choice of resignation, upgradation, and seat acceptance will affect the NEET UG seat matrix for the upcoming rounds. It will also impact the state-level NEET UG counselling, as the schedules are synchronised with the MCC NEET counselling dates.
