MCC conducted special mop-up round for NEET SS counselling to fill 1,500 seats. However, 900 seats still remain vacant, FORDA claimed.
NEW DELHI: Around 900 seats remain vacant even after the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test-Super Specialty (NEET SS 2022) mop-up round counselling, the Federation of Resident Doctors’ Association (FORDA) said today. The doctors group suggested the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) hold another round of NEET SS counselling.
The issue regarding the large number of vacant seats even after the MCC conducted two rounds of counselling following the exam held last year was raised multiple times by FORDA. In this regard, the MCC held a special-mop-up round for the remaining seats.
In February, the Supreme Court also allowed some candidates to surrender the seats during the first two rounds of MCC NEET SS Counselling 2022. The counselling notice released on February 14 included those seats as well.
The MCC held the special mop-up round to fill 1,500 seats. However, despite holding the special mop-up round, over 500 seats still remain vacant. As per the data with FORDA, 900 seats are lying vacant for NEET SS 2022. In addition to this, more students have filed petitions requesting similar relief.
Saying that the “NEET SS seats are a national asset and should not be wasted”, the resident doctors suggested another mop-up round “considering the larger interest of students and citizens who stand to benefit immensely from having more super specialty doctors in our country”.
It further requested to add the seats which were allotted to students and did not join to the new NEET SS mop-up round counselling.
