Try NowNEW DELHI : The Postgraduate Medical Education Board (PGMEB) of the National Medical Commission (NMC) has invited comments on draft Post Graduate Medical Education Regulations (PGMER) 2023. The regulations are under wide speculation as NMC has mentioned the National Eligibility Entrance Test for Postgraduate (NEET PG) 2024 tentative date. As per the NMC regulations, NEET PG 2024, if held, will be scheduled for March 2024.
The National Exit Test ( NExT ) is supposed to replace the NEET PG exam and was initially announced to be held next year for the current MBBS batch by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, AIIMS Delhi . However, NMC postponed the exam till further notice on the advice of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
The fourth chapter of the draft PGMER 2023 talks about admission and counselling for medical courses. NMC has prepared an admission schedule for postgraduate broad specialty courses according to which, “As per NExT Regulation or in case admission is to be based on NEET-PG, then Exam will be conducted in the month of March.” The NEET PG counselling process will begin in May and the new academic session 2024-25 will commence in July.
