NEET-PG 2021 exam was delayed five months due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The NEET PG 2021 counselling was also deleted due to a pending case in the Supreme Court of India regarding seat reservations. The counselling which was scheduled to be held in the month of October started in January. The NEET PG Counselling 2021 got further delayed due to the SC order for conducting a special round of counselling for the mop-up round.
IMA also pointed out the issue of the ineligibility of medical interns to attend the exam as thousands of interns who served during the COVID-19 pandemic became ineligible for NEET PG 2022 exam due to the delay in the final exams. "The net result which is germane to the entire issue at hand is inordinate delay and non-adherence to the time schedules by the National Medical Commission and the Admitting Authorities, where the students are not at fault, but are required to pay the price for the follies not committed by them, which therefore needs to be redressed urgently and promptly," the letter from IMA said.
IMA called for intervention from the minister for the postponement of the NEET PG 2022 exam for a reasonable period of time so that the aspirants will get enough time to prepare for the exam, as well as the interns who are ineligible to write the exam as of now, will be able to attend the NEET PG 2022 exam.
