Supreme Court denies to stay NEET PG 2022 counselling likely starting from September 1

NEW DELHI : The Supreme Court has refused to stay the National Eligibility Entrance Test for Postgraduate (NEET PG) 2022 counselling citing widespread consequences in a petition filed by doctors against National Board of Examinations (NBE) decision to not release NEET PG 2022 answer key and question paper. The petitioners alleged discrepancies in scores of the candidates. NEET PG 2022 counselling is likely to begin from September 1.

Justices D Y Chandrachud and A S Bopanna refused to put a stay on NEET PG 2022 counselling till August 25 as requested by the petitioner’s advocate as the top court listed the plea with another similar petition seeking access to answer keys on that date.

The petitioners argued that there are serious mismatches in NEET PG 2022 scores but NBE is not permitting revaluation. The plea mentioned that other exams in India including NEET UG 2022 allow candidates to raise objections to answer keys. The doctors are being deprived of their constitutional and fundamental rights.

The plea sought directions to NBE to release NEET PG 2022 answer key and question paper, allow candidates to challenge answer keys and provide an option for revaluation of papers. It further sought the top court’s involvement in forming a high power committee to examine the discrepancies in the exam and ensure transparency in the evaluation process. Further, the petitioners demanded NBE to frame guidelines for publishing question papers and answer keys.

NEET PG 2022 result was declared on June 1. The entrance exam was held on May 21.
