NEET Counselling 2023: Common counselling for MBBS admission; 5 things to know before registering

NEET UG Counselling 2023: The NMC has suggested a common counselling process for MBBS admission under AIQ seats and state quota seats.
NEW DELHI: The National Medical Commission (NMC) recently issued new regulation for National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) counselling 2023. As per the revised regulations, there will be common counselling for admission to MBBS and other undergraduate courses in medicine for all medical colleges in India. The NEET UG counsellling 2023 will be based on the NEET UG merit list 2023.
The Graduate Medical Education Regulations, 2023 or GMER 2023 suggested a common platform for both NEET All India Quota (AIQ) and state quota counselling. As per the NEET age criteria , candidates should have completed the age of 17 years as on or before January 31 of the year of the MBBS admission. Earlier, the cut-off date was December 31.
NEET UG counselling process
Currently, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) will be conducting the NEET counselling for UG, PG, MDS and super specialty courses. The MCC conducts NEET counselling for 15% of AIQ seats. The counselling process for the remaining 85% seats are conducted by the state counselling authorities.

NEET Counselling Registration: Points to remember
Medical aspirants will have to remember the following points before registering for NEET UG counselling.
- Candidates will have to submit the NEET UG counselling application form only once on the designated counselling website, mcc.nic.in. The state counselling websites are different for states.
- If a student does not join the allotted college in the second or subsequent rounds, the security deposit will be forfeited.
- Candidates must ensure that all details entered by them are correct. The MCC does not change or edit any information including name, date of birth (DoB), category, nationality, contact details etc entered by the candidates during the registration.
- Candidates are advised to visit medical college websites for information on MBBS fee structure, stipend etc. They must note that choice once locked cannot be modified.
- Aspirants are also advised to confirm their eligibility, domicile status before registering for the counselling.
