NEET 2021: No plan to suspend medical entrance exams, said health ministry

The health ministry told Parliament that the government has no plans to suspend NEET 2021 or any other exam. The NEET exams will be held on schedule.

Try NowNEW DELHI: In a written reply to the Lok Sabha on July 23, 2021, the Union government said that they have not planned any suspension of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) and any other common entrance exam. Bharati Pravin Pawar, the minister of state for health and family welfare said that the NEET-UG exam will be conducted on September 12, 2021, while the exam for postgraduate courses (NEET-PG) will be held on September 11.

“No. The NEET-(PG) and NEET-(UG) 2021 examinations are scheduled to be held on September 11 and 12, respectively,” the health ministry told Parliament.
The minister also said that the medical entrance exams will be conducted with all precautionary measures and following the COVID-19 protocols.
NEET UG, PG 2021: COVID-19 precautions
The minister related the protective measures being adopted for candidates and examination personnel. These are listed below.

To avoid the crowding and long travel by candidates, the government has increased the number of examination centres.

NEET admit card will have a COVID e-pass for easy movement of students.

The staggered entry and exit of aspirants from the exam centres.

The body temperature of all candidates will be checked. Aspirants whose temperature will be above normal, they will be allowed to take the NEET UG and PG exam in the isolation labs.

Wearing a face mask will be mandatory. Candidates will be provided with a protective gear safety kit containing a face shield, face mask and hand sanitiser.

Proper guidelines will be followed to control the crowd outside the centre.
NEET-UG 2021 exam
NEET registration has started from July 13, 2021, at the official websites - neet.nta.nic.in or nta.ac.in. The eligible candidates can fill the NEET 2021 application form till August 6. The conducting authority, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has also released the NEET information brochure with major changes regarding exam pattern, medium and more. NEET exam will be conducted for admission to 83,075 MBBS, 26,949 BDS, 52,720 AYUSH, 525 BVSc and AH seats. The admission to 1,899 AIIMS and 249 JIPMER seats will be done through NEET scores.
NEET PG 2021
The National Board of Examinations (NBE) conducts the NEET PG exam for admission to around 38,317 seats in Doctor of Medicine (MD), Master in Surgery (MS) and PG Diploma seats. NBE will be releasing the fresh admit cards of NEET PG 2021 soon at nbe.edu.in or natboard.edu.in. A total of 1.75 lakh candidates will appear for the NEET PG exam . As per the exam pattern, 200 questions will be asked. For every correct answer, four marks will be awarded, while one mark will be deducted for every wrong attempt.
