NBT set up team to assess psycho-social impact of COVID-19

NEW DELHI: The National Book Trust (NBT) is preparing seven booklets with questions to assess community perception about the psycho-social impact of the coronavirus pandemic. It is calling the survey “Psycho-Social Impact and How to Cope”
The NBT has set up a study group of eminent psychologists and counsellors for this.
The study group has released a set of questionnaires in Hindi & English of seven segments to assess psycho-social impact of COVID-19 and the lockdown and how to cope with it.
The seven segments address different groups including “parents, mothers and women”; “children, adolescents and youths”; “employees, professionals, the self-employed and other workers”; the “differently-abled”; families affected by COVID-19; medical and essential service providers; and the elderly. “The Public circulation of the Questionnaire is intended to create a conducive environment for community participation and sharing of emotions in the lockdown period,” says a statement issued by NBT. Members of the general public are encouraged to respond to the online questionnaire .
On the basis of the responses, the study group will develop methodologies and practical tips to deal with such situations. They will also create easy-to-understand reading materials on various segments taking their references through research, virtual interviews and case studies.
NBT has recently launched the Corona Studies Series to make new and relevant reading material for readers of all age groups.
The NBT study group comprises Jitendra Nagpal, Harshita, Sq Ldr (Rtd) Meena Arora, Lt Col Tarun Uppal, Rekha Chauhan, Sonie Sidhu and Aparajita Dixit.
