MP Board to discontinue 'best of five' method for Class 10 students from 2026-27

MP Board Class 10th Board Date Sheet 2025: The MPBSE will commence the high school exams from February 27 and conclude on March 21.
NEW DELHI: Madhya Pradesh Board of School Education (MPBSE) is going to discontinue the ‘best of five’ method for Class 9 and Class 10. According to the rule, students will only have to pass 5 out of the 6 subjects considered to clear the annual board exam 2025.
The board said that the ‘best of five method’ will be implemented in Class 9 till 2024-25 and in Class 10 till 2025-26 academic session.
“According to the order number 789/221/2022/20-3 Bhopal, dated 23.12.2024 of Madhya Pradesh Government, School Education Department, Ministry Vallabh Bhawan Bhopal… The best of five method will end in class 9th from session 2025-26 and in class 10th from session 2026-27,” the circular read.
The decision was made to allow students to focus on their stronger subjects and to reduce stress and pressure on weaker areas.
As per the MP Board Class 9 and 10 marking scheme, the question paper for high school exams for regular and self-study students will be of 75 marks. The remaining 25 marks will be assigned for project, practical work. There is no provision for internal assessment for self-study students. Students have to score the minimum marks of 33% to be declared pass.
As per the MP Board Class 10th board date sheet 2025 , the MPBSE will commence the high school exams from February 27 and conclude on March 21. Students will be given 3 hours duration from 9 am to 12 noon to attempt the question paper. The board has instructed students to reach the exam hall by 8.30 am.
