'Only MBBS': FAIMA asks Maharashtra Medical Council to withdraw notification letting CCMP holders register
The request from the medical association comes a day after the MMC issued a notification that the registration link for the CCMP-qualified doctors will be hosted on the MMC’s official portal.
The Federation of All India Medical Associations (FAIMA) has urged the Maharashtra Medical Council (MMC) to withdraw the registration notification of Certificate Course in Modern Pharmacology (CCMP)-qualified doctors from the MMC’s official website.
The request from the medical association comes a day after the MMC issued a notification that the registration link for the CCMP-qualified doctors will be hosted on the MMC’s official portal.
“We sincerely acknowledge and respect the efforts of all healthcare workers, including those who undergo CCMP training. However, we believe that their role should remain distinct and not be equated with that of MBBS doctors through MMC registration,” the FAIMA said in an official statement.
Requesting the MMC to preserve public trust and uphold the standards of modern medication, Akshay Dongardive, President, FAIMA, Maharashtra MARD Advisor, expressed that allowing short-term course candidates the same registration as of MBBS-qualified students may create confusion among patients and reduce public trust.

MMC registration reserved for MBBS
“MMC registration has always been ‘reserved’ for MBBS-qualified candidates and higher recognised medical qualifications as per national standards. It is in the best interest of the public that those who study a particular pathy of medicine should practice only in that pathy,” Dongardive added.
In addition, the doctors’ fraternity protected its stance and said that the MBBS training involves years of structured education, clinical exposure, and supervised practice. Allowing parallel registration may unintentionally create ambiguity in the eyes of patients and the public.
“The National Medical Commission (NMC) currently recognizes MBBS and higher medical qualifications for registration. To maintain harmony with national standards, it is important that MMC adheres to the same framework,” the statement added.
In an earlier statement, the MMC announced that it shall be launching a portal on its official website for the registration of CCMP-qualified doctors.
“Accordingly, all CCMP-qualified doctors are hereby directed to register themselves with the MMC through the said portal and to strictly adhere to the procedure as laid down in the earlier notification issued by the MMC dated 30/06/2025,” the MMC earlier statement reads.
