Mahartashtra: Summer vacation for students of Classes 1 to 9 and 11 from May 2 to June 12

MUMBAI: The Maharashtra government on Monday issued a circular, announcing summer vacation for students of Classes 1 to 9 and 11 from May 2 to June 12. According to the circular issued by the state's school education department, the next academic session in the state will begin on June 13 except in Vidarbha, where the educational institutes will reopen on June 27 owing to high day temperatures in the region during the period.
The results of Classes 1 to Class 9 and 11 examinations will be declared on April 30 or during the vacation period, it said.

Recently, the Maharashtra education department had stated that schools for Classes 1 to 9 and 11 will function 'full day' till April 30 to compensate for the academic loss caused to students due to COVID-19. Usually, for Classes 1 to 9, the vacation starts by April 15. The GR issued by IM Kazi, joint secretary, Maharashtra government, has directed schools to function full day on Saturdays instead of half-day and voluntarily on Sundays. It also stated that exams of Classes 1 to 9 and 11 should be taken in the third week of April and results declared by May.
