NEW DELHI: Karnataka school curriculum will now have lessons on the brave women of the state like Belavadi Mallamma, Kitturu Rani Chennamma, and Rani Abbakka, state Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai announced on Monday. The decision has been taken to spread awareness amongst the children and the next generation about their valor.
Bommai was speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the 374th-anniversary celebrations of Belavadi Mallamma's victory over the Maratha army.

The Karnataka chief minister added that initiatives would be taken for comprehensive development of Belavadi. "Women's contribution to Karnataka's glory is immense. The younger generation should know about it," he further said.
Meanwhile, the Karnataka government has taken a policy decision to reserve 1% jobs for transgender in the education department . After the Karnataka Police department, the state education department for the first time will be recruiting transgender for teachers' posts.

Moreover, the Karnataka High Court concluded the hearing related to the 'hijab' (scarf) case on Friday, but reserved its order. "Heard. Order reserved," Chief Justice Ritu Raj Awasthi said. The court asked the petitioners to file written submissions, if any, before the Bench.
The Bench, constituted on February 9 and comprising the Chief Justice, Justice Krishna S Dixit and Justice Jaibunnisa M Khazi, heard on a day-to-day basis over the last two weeks a batch of petitions filed by some girls seeking permission to wear the hijab in educational institutions where a uniform has been prescribed.
