K J Somaiya College of Nursing launches certificate course in healthcare OPD coordination
The course is launched for P D Hinduja Hospital personnel, in collaboration with the K J Somaiya Institute of Management.
K J Somaiya College of Nursing has launched a certificate programme in healthcare OPD coordination, in collaboration with the K J Somaiya Institute of Management. The programme is specifically designed for the P D Hinduja Hospital in Mumbai. Participants will be nominated by the hospital itself.
The K J Somaiya certificate programme focusses on improving the outpatient department (OPD) with patient experience, staff coordination and service delivery through personnel training. The course is rooted in “outcome-based learning” and “system-level thinking” for healthcare operations to develop a workforce which can manage clinic flow, assist physicians, and deliver efficient care, as per an official statement.
Graduates with a background in science or allied fields are eligible to apply for the certificate course. The current batch of the programme commenced in July 2025. Students will receive joint certification from the Somaiya College of Nursing as well as the Somaiya Institute of Management upon successful completion.

KJSIM ’s newly launched certificate programme, ‘Healthcare OPD Coordination for Hinduja Hospital’, a collaborative effort with K J Somaiya College of Nursing, is a direct response to the need for structured, outcome-based training in this vital space,” said Raman Ramachandran, dean and director of the Somaiya Institute of Management.
Avani Oke, principal of the K J Somaiya Nursing College, commented that the OPD health coordinator course is “unique”, with the pedagogy involving experiential learning and sharing, and the curriculum being a blend of content and soft skills through activities.
