JoSAA counselling 2024 FAQs
The IIT JoSAA counselling 2024 will have a total of 6 rounds, of which round 5 will be administered for IIT seats and round 6 for NIT+system. Here’s FAQs and step-by-step guide to complete counselling.
Choice filling - Candidates will be allowed to make changes in the order of preference submitted before the choice filling deadline. After the facility is closed, applicants will not be able to edit, add or delete any course from the choices entered.
Choice locking - If a candidate does not lock their choices, the last saved choices will be locked automatically upon reaching the deadline for choice filling. The automatically locked choice list will be considered for allocating a seat during JoSAA.
Float or slide option - In case a candidate is not satisfied with allocation after a certain round and prefers to participate in subsequent rounds, they will still have to accept the allocated seat and then choose the option of float or slide to be considered for a seat of higher preference in desired institute. However, after getting selected for higher preference, they will not be permitted to accept the seat allocated in the previous round.
Accepting seats - To accept the seat allocated, candidates will have to select ‘accept’ option, upload documents, and make payment of seat acceptance fee. However, if they fail to complete any of the three steps of online reporting for seat acceptance, the allocation will be cancelled.
Freeze - If a candidate is satisfied with the seat allocation and does not wish to participate in further rounds of counselling, they will have to choose the ‘freeze’ option.
