While issuing the CBSE board exam date sheet 2026, the central board mentioned that NTA will require the registration number of Class 11 students to be filled in the JEE Main application form 2026. Accordingly, all the schools were requested to provide the registration number of Class 11 to their students applying for JEE Mains .
The board observed that despite clear instructions, it is receiving complaints from students and parents about not getting the details. “Despite the above instructions, many parents and students have approached the board with grievances that Class 12 students appearing for the JEE 2026 exam are not getting their Class 11 registration numbers from the respective schools,” CBSE said in the latest notification.
Repeating that it is mandatory for the schools to provide the information, CBSE added, “This matter has been seriously viewed by the Board. It is once again reiterated that schools must invariably provide the Class XI registration number to students appearing for the JEE Main 2026 .”
The decision to use the CBSE registration numbers in JEE Main 2026 was taken to avoid clash with exam dates and exam postponement as a result. CBSE board exams 2026 will be conducted from February 17 to April 9. JEE Main 2026 will take place in two sessions – the first session will be held between January 21 and 30 while the second session exam dates have been revised and will now be conducted from April 2 to 9.
JEE Main 2026 registration is underway on jeemain.nta.nic.in and the last day to fill the JEE Main 2026 registration form is November 27.
