With a significant increase in the number of exam cities, the National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main) 2026 for engineering, architecture, and planning courses in two sessions at 323 different locations across the country. The JEE Main 2026 session 1 will be conducted from January 21 to 30, while session 2 will be held from April 2 to 9.
The testing agency has also clarified that the use of a “virtual calculator” will not be allowed during the JEE Main 2026. NTA cited a “typographical error” in the JEE Main 2026 information bulletin regarding the use of virtual calculators in the exam.
Candidates can apply for the JEE Main 2026 session 1 till November 27, and the fee payment can be done till 11:50 pm. The JEE Main 2026 results will be declared by February 12.
According to the JEE Main 2026 eligibility criteria, candidates who have qualified in Class 12 or an equivalent exam within the last three years are eligible to apply. There’s no age limit to apply for the entrance exam.

The JEE Main 2026 comprises two papers – paper 1 (BE, BTech) for engineering and paper 2 (BArch, BPlanning) for architecture.

Also, this year, NTA has increased the number of JEE exam cities to 323 from 284. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has asked all its affiliated schools to share the Class 11 registration details with the NTA to help prevent any scheduling conflicts between the JEE Main exams and the CBSE board Class 12 exams 2026.
