JEE Mains 2026 April 4 Exam LIVE: Shift 1, 2 'easy to moderate'; memory-based questions, analysis

JEE Mains 2026 April 4 : The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducted the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2026 Day 2 exam in two shifts. According to subject experts, the JEE Main 2026 April 4 shift 2 exam was "easiest" among all shifts in the session 2 exams. Students can calculate their expected JEE Mains 2026 scores using the unofficial answer keys shared by the subject experts and several coaching institutes.

Around 11.23 lakh candidates will write the JEE Mains 2026 session 2 exams across 304 cities in India and 14 cities abroad.

JEE session 1 exams give candidates another chance who either missed the January attempt or are not satisfied with their performance to improve their JEE Main 2026 scores.

JEE Mains 2026 Session 2 Dates: BTech, BArch

The testing agency will hold JEE Main 2026 session 2 exams for BTech and BE Paper 1 on April 5, 6, and 8, while BArch and BPlanning Paper 2 will be conducted on April 7. In the JEE Mains 2026 Jan session exams 2026, 12 students grabbed the top ranks with scores in the 100th percentile.

JEE Main 2026 April 4 Shift 1, 2 Question Paper Analysis

The JEE Mains 2026 Day 2 shift 2 exam is over. As per subject experts, the JEE Mains 2026 April 2 shift 2 exam was "easy to moderate" in difficulty.

As per subject experts' analysis, the overall difficulty for shift 1 was "moderate." The maths section was the most "difficult", followed by physics, while the chemistry section was the "easiest." According to students' reaction, the shift 1 paper was similar to the April 2 shift 2 and slightly easier than the January exams.

NTA will prepare the final All India Rank (AIR) and percentile for 2026 based on the best of the two sessions.

JEE Advanced 2026: Expected cutoffs

Only the top 2.5 lakh aspirants will be eligible to appear in the JEE Advanced 2026 exam on May 17. The expected cut-offs for admission to various IITs are given below.

Candidates appearing for the JEE Main 2026 are advised to carry their hall ticket, two passport-size photographs, and a valid ID proof to the exam centres. As per guidelines, those who did not register using Aadhaar must report to their allotted centre at least one hour before the gate closing time to complete the biometric verification.
