JNU Violence: The protest by Jamia Millia Islamia students will see participation from student groups such as AIRSO, AISA, CFI, DISSC among others
NEW DELHI: Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) student groups have decided to hold a protest and solidarity gathering today, April 12, at 1 pm against the JNU violence allegedly caused by members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) on JNU students, said a tweet from Students Islamic Organisation of India (SIO of India). The protest is to be held at Hygenic canteen, gate number 8 on the JMI campus.
The gathering will also mark the students' protest against numerous anti-Muslim violence across India perpetrated by members of right-wing affiliated groups and state forces. According to SIO of India, the gathering will see participation from student groups such as the All India Revolutionary Students Organisation (AIRSO), All India Students' Association (AISA), Campus Front of India (CFI), DISSC among others.
"Student groups at Jamia Millia Islamia have called for a protest and solidarity gathering against attack by ABVP on students of JNU and anti-Muslim violence in various parts of the country by right-wing goons and state forces," said SIO of India in a Twitter post.

The JNU violence happened on Sunday, April 10. JNUSU alleged that ABVP members had attempted to stop students from eating meat in the hostel canteen during the Ram Navami celebration day. The student union contend that the ABVP members had attacked students, including the mess secretary and began stone-pelting.
