Try NowNEW DELHI: The Indian Medical Association (IMA) in a letter to the union health minister Mansukh Mandaviya has asked the minister to postpone the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Postgraduate (NEET PG) by two to three months. NEET PG 2023 is scheduled to be held on March 5.
Reiterating that the NBE has announced the NEET PG exam date to be March 5, 2023, the association said that the candidates who are doing their mandatory internship are not provided sufficient time for preparation.

Practically, IMA added, many aspiring MBBS students yet have to complete their internship as per their local internship schedules and these all students will miss their opportunity to seek postgraduate education as the NBE NEET PG 23 date do not synchronize with the dates of completion of internships at various parts of country.
The health ministry on Tuesday, February 7 extended the cut-off date for mandatory internship from June 30 to August 11, 2023.
“As requested by IMA Headquarters the issue of eligibility criteria for NEET PG 2023 was resolved by extending the date of completion of internship. But this also needs to synchronize with the actual examination date, which shall be convened after completion of internship,” IMA added.
“While we are entrusted with the task to bring uniformity and standardization in postgraduate examinations conducted in India, we must safeguard these basic objectives while framing the schedule for NEET PG, IMA said adding that the wellbeing and welfare of students should be the primary and only focus.
