NEW DELHI: IIT Gandhinagar’s student body has set up a control room to manage all coronavirus-related activities on the campus.
The control room coordinates activities related to prevention, precautionary measures, isolation, and quarantine of people to stop the spread of coronavirus.
Manned by students, the facility works round the clock.
What it does
The 24*7 control room monitors all students who have a recent travel history and checks them up on a daily basis.
As per the campus’ safety protocol, IITGN community members who have returned from COVID-19 affected countries have to be in quarantine for 14 days.
The students can contact the control room in case they face any difficulty during the current lockdown.
Volunteers at the control room answer queries relating to coronavirus and inform the authorities without delay, if needed.
Any community member experiencing symptoms such as cough, cold or fever is required to report to the medical center or control room for a routine screening.
Those who have been advised self-isolation can seek help on phone.
As on date, eight persons are on quarantine on the campus, and 12 under observation.
The control room’s website ( https://sites.iitgn.ac.in/controlroom/ ) has details about contact numbers, emergency numbers and email IDs for any queries.
The number of COVID-19 cases in India has now climbed to 724. The death toll is 17.
