IIT Roorkee, HESCO to collaborate in joint training, education, research

IIT Roorkee and Himalayan Environmental Studies and Conservation Organization collaboration aims to promote rural infrastructure and livelihoods of rural communities.
NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee has signed an agreement with the Himalayan Environmental Studies and Conservation Organization (HESCO) for cooperation in training, education, research, and deployment for promoting rural infrastructures and improving livelihood opportunities of rural communities
The agreement between IIT Roorkee and HESCO includes joint submission of research and development projects under the call of a proposal from different government and non-government funding organizations for promoting rural infrastructures and livelihoods enhancement of rural communities, training, and workshops on Himalayan sustainable development.
Under the agreement , IIT Roorkee and HESCO will hold joint training programmes on different natural issues such as new techniques in water resources management and agriculture development, food security, agriculture security, livelihood security, drinking water security, energy security, natural hazards, climate etc. The agreement also facilitates the exchange of staff and students for joint research.

"The proposed collaboration between IIT Roorkee and HESCO will promote better management of water resources and targeted development of agriculture for the sustainable progress of rural communities in the Himalayan region," said Ajit K Chaturvedi, director of IIT Roorkee.
